Not much has been happening on the house lately because i think our builder has other projects that he has his crews working on, but they have finished a lot of the siding. Almost all of the main sheets of it are installed on the lower level, and they've started the trim around the windows and doors as well as putting up the vertical battens for the board and batten look.

In my picture rumaging around this afternoon I came across a couple of shots of the old house before Hurricane Ivan and scanned them into the computer. It really was a pretty place.

And, lest anyone forget, here's the tree that destroyed the home during the hurricane. It was actually just one limb that came off in the storm and fell on the house, but it crushed the upper level and knocked the rest of it sideways. Live oak wood is REALLY heavy.

When the tree came down in preparation for building the new house we ended up with a large pile of mulch, and we're waiting for the house to get completed before we do very much with it. With all of our rain lately mushrooms have been going crazy around here, and here is a shot of some of the pretty orange ones growing out of the mulch pile.

I don't have lot to show today, but here are a couple of pictures of the siding going up. Things are apparently at the "go slow" stage after several months of feverish activity, but we're still projected to be in the new house at the end of September.

This first picture of of the west side of the house and the second picture is of the front of the house. They got most of the porch area completed today with the basic siding. Next, they'll trim out the doors and windows and put on the vertical slats. Then it will all get painted.

It's time NOW for painting the interior which we have elected to do ourselves. I'm not sure about that at this point.

Here are three videos of the house to this point of completion. The outside hasn't changed very much at all recently, but they've been working on the inside pretty steadily. Our painter has been here for the past several days, and has primed all of the drywall to be ready for the final coat and has finished all the ceilings.
